Nami-Connecticut Annual Conference
Nami-Fairfield was represented last October 15, 2005 at the Nami-CT Annual Conference, called “The Mind/Body Connection.” We displayed our Educator’s Resource Binder and sold Narsad cards for fundraising.
This October 14, 2006, NAMI-Fairfield will present a workshop in partnership with the Fairfield University School of Nursing and The Wellness Center on “How to Develop a “Nami-On-Campus Affiliate”.
Please save the date and attend this year's NAMI-CT workshop:
"Operation Success, Recovery Strategies, tools and support for Children, Adolescents & Adults”
For more information, call Nami-Ct at 1-800-215-3021 or www.namict.org
(once again, the workshop will be held at the Morningside Conference Center in Wallingford, CT)
This spring, NAMI released the first comprehensive state-by-state analysis of our country's mental health care system in 15 years. Grading the States 2006: A Report on AMerica's HealthCare System for Serious Mental illness confirms in detail what President Bush's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health has called a "system in shambles".
The nation as a whole received a grade of "D"; 5 states graded in the "B" range; 8 states received "F"'s and none received "A"s.
Our State of Connecticut received an overall grade of "B"!
Following are the grades for the 4 different categories under which each state was graded:
Infrastructure A
Information Access C+
Services C+
Recovery Supports B+
With your continued support, NAMI drives the changes needed to provide good treatment and service across America - changes that offer opportunity, recovery and hope.
NAMI-CT will be sponsoring "In Our Own Voice" training for new presenters this fall. Those interested in being trained to do these stigma reducing presentations, please contact: programdirector@namict.org
