The Adam Gardner Memorial Fund (A.G.M Fund)
October, 2005
Nami-Fairfield developed a “Mental Health Resource Binder For Educators” and donated (5) library books on mental health topics to each Fairfield Public School. Along with these materials, we distributed the NAMI booklet entitled, “Parents & Teachers as Allies” along with some booklets on learning disabilities.
This ultimate development of A Mental Health Resource Library for each Fairfield Public School, was our first step in meeting the goals of the A.G.M Fund, to educate the Fairfield School Community about Mental Illness.
This October 2006, in recognition of Mental Illness Awareness Week, we will donate an update to the resource binder and (1) book to the educators resource library…..This is a ongoing project!
This year's book donated to the high schools and middle schools is I Am Not Sick, I Don’t Need Help and the book to Fairfield's elementary schools is Up and Down the Worry Hill, a children’s book about obsessive-compulsive disorder and it’s treatment.
In addition, we have obtained the permission from the Gardner family to donate (2) books on mental health topics per town library, to mark the 2006 Mental Illness Awareness Week on behalf of Adam’s memorial fund.
