   NAMI-FAIRFIELD BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

Tuesday, June 12th at 7pm in the CHAPEL

Please mark you calendars for this important meeting and plan to spend some time so that we can finish business for this year.

So many wonderful things have happened and will be happening for our 2007-08 Year.

AS A MEMBER OF THE NAMI-FAIRFIELD BOARD, WE NEED YOUR HELP - PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND

Please RSVP to me:  Bentwisle@mail.fairfield.edu

Also:
1. Please read the letter that follows from Marilyn as we will be giving her time at the board meeting to discuss this project.

2. If anyone is interested in attending, Awards Night will be on Tuesday, May 29th at Housatonic Community College and our affilitate will be presenting (1) $500.00 scholarship.  The student was picked by the program director of the Mental Health Certificate Program, for overall excellence - it is a surprise for the student, so I can't divulge the name until after the presentation.  NAMI-Trumbull will also be making a presentation.

NAMI-CT Get On a Roll! Grant 2007

From Marilyn Ricci, Past President NAMI-CT, Grant Consultant

As the blades of grass in out logo symbolize, NAMI is a grassroots organization that is dedicated to the eradication of mental illness and to the improvement of the quality of life for those whose lives are affected by these diseases (NAMI By-laws, July 2002).

NAMI-CT has received a grant from NAMI National to implement strategies that will help increase membership by strengthening our affiliates. The first step in the process is to survey affiliates to understand how they work in Connecticut. The results of the survey will be shared among all of the affiliates so that we can all learn from each other.  Strengthening our grassroots is essential to our mission.

As the affiliate president or coordinator you are being sent a copy of the survey to review and share with officers, board and affiliate members as you deem appropriate. I will be calling shortly to set a time to meet with you and other members you designate to fill out the survey.  Please have a few dates and times that are good for you.  I am flexible and can meet during the day or in the evening, and weekends are fine too. I am looking forward to meeting with you and your affiliate.  This is an exciting opportunity for us in Connecticut.  I know that you feel as strongly as I do that our affiliates are where the action is and we need to work together to make all of them as strong as possible.

Thank you for taking the time to be an affiliate leader; a dedicated NAMI volunteer! And especially, I thank you for filling out this survey with me
